Our coffee comes in whole beans, because it stays fresher and more flavourful for a longer time than ground coffee. However, we can grind the coffee for you if you like, please just let us know!
Yes, absolutely. Please specify the grind size when you order. For example, if you would like it ground coarse for French press coffee, medium grind for filter, or fine grind for espresso, we are happy to do so for you. If you're buying a gift for someone, and you aren't sure if they have a coffee grinder, it's a thoughtful way to personalize a gift.
Each bag of coffee is 200g. A good rule of thumb is to use about 15g of ground coffee per cup. A 200g bag of coffee gives you about 13 cups of coffee or espresso.
After you open a bag of coffee, it goes stale and loses some of its flavour within a few days. We use 200g coffee bags because we hope that it will be enjoyed before it starts to lose its flavours.
We have smaller 100g bags that we sometimes use as gifts. If you would like to order those, please let us know.
We use light, medium and dark roast labels to give you a general idea of how the coffee tastes. It's not usually a specific criteria that defines the roast level. A dark roast is going to have a stronger taste and more body than a light roast. Physically, a dark roast does look darker than a medium or light roast. It's an intuitive description that most coffee drinkers are familiar with.
Sometimes we roast 3 batches of the same coffee. Each batch is roasted to a different level - light, medium and dark. We cup the coffees side by side to see how the different roast levels change the way the coffee tastes. It's a great way to experience your favourite coffee. If you would like to experience a cupping with us, please drop us a line.
Yes, absolutely! Just because we think a coffee tastes good roasted one way, that it doesn't taste good roasted another way! Our roaster takes special requests. If you like the way a coffee tastes but would like it roasted darker or lighter, please let us know and we will be happy to adjust the roast to your preferences.
No. The tasting notes give an an impression of how the coffee tastes. It also helps to describe the differences between the coffees.
For example, a coffee that is really sweet might be described as tasting like berries, but if it also has a lot of acidity it might be described as tasing like apple. Or it could be described as tasting of dark chocolate if it is bitter, and milk chocolate, if it is sweeter.
No. We do not add any flavours to the coffee. If you like to add flavours to your coffee, we highly recommend adding flavoured syrup to your drink after it is brewed so you can adjust it to taste.
